Charlie Cox Praises Marvel for Being ‘Open-Minded’ During Daredevil: Born Again Reworks

Charlie Cox recently opened up about the reworks that Marvel Studios‘ Daredevil: Born Again underwent, and praised Marvel for their vision and support.

The original plans for Born Again was geared more around being a legal procedural, which wouldn’t continue much of Daredevil’s history from the Netflix series. However, last year, the creative team for the series was let go, and the series was subsequently reworked.

During a recent appearance at Fan Expo Boston, Cox praised Marvel for being “incredibly open-minded” on the move, and said that the original idea just wasn’t working, but everyone is happy with how things ended up.

What did Charlie Cox say about Daredevil: Born Again?

“Marvel had been incredibly open-minded and willing to correct course, and incredibly supportive,” Cox said (via ComicBook). “Early on, we were trying something that was a bit different, and very quickly they were able to identify that wasn’t maybe working as well as it could’ve done. Where we are now, I think I can speak for both of us that we feel very happy.”

Daredevil: Born Again hails from showrunner Dario Scardapane and directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. The upcoming MCU revival will also feature return of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/ Punisher, and Wilson Bethel as Benjamin Poindexter/ Bullseye. Joining them are franchise newcomers Sandrine Holt, Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, Michael Gaston, Nikki M. James, Arty Froushan, and Genneya Walton.

Both Cox and D’Onofrio already made their Marvel Cinematic Universe debuts in 2021, with Kingpin guest-starring in the Hawkeye series and Matt Murdock/Daredevil briefly appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home. In 2022, Cox also had a two-episode appearance on She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where he showed off a lighter side of the hero. Most recently, Cox and D’Onofrio starred in the Alaqua Cox-led miniseries Echo.
