The head coach of South Africa, Hugo Broos, has warned Nigeria that the favourites don’t always win, ahead of Wednesday’s semi-final at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles are slight favourites ahead of the game, but the tournament has already produced a number of shocking results.
Bafana Bafana reached the last four of the competition by eliminating the 2022 World Cup semi-finalists in Morocco. They also held Tunisia to a draw in the group stages.
Ahead of the fixture against Nigeria, Broos told KickOff: “It’s a little bit the same situation with Morocco, a very good team with players in Europe with big teams, so you can compare it.
“I think for many people, Nigeria will be favourites to win that game, but as you know, in football, it’s not always the favourite that wins.
