Fulham boss, Marco Silva has defended Calvin Bassey following criticisms that trailed the defender’s performance in the side’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
Bassey was singled out for blame after the loss at the Tottenham Stadium.
The Nigeria international was deployed in an accustomed right centre-back position by Silva in the game.
The centre-back struggled all through the game and was at fault for the two goals conceded by the Whites.
Silva has however absolved Bassey of any blame for the defeat.
“Tottenham pressed really strong and more on Calvin,” Silva after the game.
They knew that we were playing a left-footed central defender on the right-hand side, and we were punished for the mistake.
“We spoke at half-time that the solution for Bassey has to be completely different, the position of our midfield has to be completely different for him to have a solution.”
