(UNEDITED)

Life can be precarious sometimes and honestly, it’s not in our hands. Though everyone won’t approve of me because few people have complete faith in fate while some believe that it’s our actions that decide our future. Now, was this written on Aaron’s fate that the girl whom he loved so much would deceive him in such a way that nobody could have ever illustrated? Maybe yes? Or maybe Aaron was being castigated for his mistakes and immoralities?

8 YEARS LATER:

Aaron’s POV

I woke up with a scream from the most unpleasant nightmare of mine. It’s been almost 8 years but I still can’t disremember the incident that had distorted my life since then.

“Ron, I heard your scream, are you okay?” Simon looked concerned.

Simon was the same guy who had helped my brother to bring the eyewitness that day. He was very trustworthy and reliable guy as my brother trusted him more than me. I mean, why won’t he? Simon wasn’t the guy who had been in love with our father’s killer all along and even believed her lies. It was me. I feel mortified and remorseful since that day and can never forgive myself. My brother died because of me. The same girl who had killed my father had killed my brother too.

“Yes Sim, I am fine. I was just a bad dream.” I told Simon to free him from his worry.

After Ric’s death, I have left all the bad work and tried to be a normal person and decided to submerge myself in my work and decided to work harder for my company and also as a businessman.

I have lost my family because of all the illegal stuffs that they used to do and as much as I blame Amelia for it, I also blame them. Why did they get into such dark side of the world? If they had not got involved, maybe such a day would not have ever come. But what’s the point of pointing finger at people who are no more there to hear these accusations.

“Ron, our company has got a new client for the new LA project and I believe that their offer is really beneficial for our project. Should I set up your meeting with them today? They are in a hurry so I don’t want us to miss this offer.” Simon started to shuffle through some papers while I sat down to have my breakfast.

“That sounds great. What is the name of the company?”

“Robinsons.”

This was our diurnal routine. In the morning, when I used to sit for breakfast, Sim used to tell me all the recent news, offers, our company’s projects and my schedule for the day. Basically, he worked as my PA both professionally as well as personally.

The car was ready for as I walked down the stairs to the parking lot. Sim used to drive for me. Though I had told him inestimable times that I can drive but he always insisted on driving. He had a thing for driving cars so I used to laugh and let him do it.

As I reached my cabin, I saw that the details of today’s meeting with the new client was kept on my table. I read the file and was actually quite impressed by the client’s offer as it was profitable for both their and our company and the best thing was there was a very low chance of either of ours’ loss.

“Are you okay with the deal, Ron?” Sim smiled at me as he saw a smile slowly spreading across my lips.

“Of course, I am!”

It’s been a long time since I have been this happy and I was enjoying every bit of it.

“When is the meeting scheduled?” I asked as I shuffled through the pages even more.

“The meeting has been scheduled at 11:30am, that is 1 hour from now.”

“Fantastic!”

Generally, I don’t manage the paperwork before the meeting but I was really looking forward to this one and so decided to do it myself and asked my staff to be ready with all the presentations and that there should not be a single mistake as it may result in us losing the offer.

“Ron, they are here. Are we ready to go?” He opened the cabin room and peeked.

“Let’s go and get this deal.” I tightened my tie a little and with a smile went towards the conference room.

I smiled at the staff of The Robinsons’ Company as they entered.

“Hey everyone, Aaron Costello this side.” I kept a small smile and shook hands with everyone but my eyes were on that one empty chair.

“As much as I was informed, 11 people were supposed to come, so where is your other team member?” I asked with a confused expression.

“Oh, she must here in any minuβ€” Oh, there she is!” He smiled as the lady walked in.

“Sorry guys for being late, walking with these heels is a very tough job, I must say.” The familiar voice made my body freeze.

It was her. The girl who killed my father and my brother. She was standing right in front of me with a forwarded hand for a handshake.

“Hi Mr. Costello, this is Kassie Robinson. Nice to see you again.”
