The upcoming Stranger Things Season 5 will be the final season of Netflix’s landmark television series. With the writers’ strike concluded, the Duffer Brothers are back working on the Season 5 scripts. Executive producer Shawn Levy hopes to begin filming Stranger Things 5 very soon. However, the start date depends on the SAG-AFTRA strike ending.
“I can say that we are hoping to start filming as soon as possible. We really need the actor’s strike resolved first. The Duffers have been hard at work since the writer strike ended,” Levy said via The Wrap. “We’re busy on a bunch of fronts because we also have our Stranger Things play opening in London imminently. It’s fabulous. It’s f–king awesome.”
Levy says the play, Stranger Things: The First Shadow, has “exceeded” his expectations and can’t wait to “share that with the world.” Like all of Hollywood, Levy looks forward to the day the strikes end so they can start filming.
“We are raring to go — our cast, our crew,” Levy said. “Everyone not only needs to get back to work because we have many hundreds of crew members who have not been able to make a living since the strikes began, but we will be shooting very shortly after the actor’s strike ends.”
Stranger Things will bring back most of its cast from previous chapters for Season 5. The stars expected to return include Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Priah Ferguson, Joe Keery, and Maya Hawke.
Stranger Things Season 5 is expected to start filming shortly after the conclusion of the actors’ strike. It does not have a release date.
