Role Overview
Honeywell/UOP will only consider candidates who are authorized to work in Nigeria on a full-time and permanent basis.
This is an exciting and unique opportunity to work around the world as part of a Field Operating Service (FOS) team, supported by technology experts from Honeywell UOP’s Technical Service Group. FOS advisors are on-site prior, during, and after the initial start-up of UOP technologies.
They help to insure that the technology and customer operators are ready for commissioning. Advisors are also involved in the start-up and test runs that demonstrate guarantees and are accountable for process, equipment, refining and petrochemical insight and assist customers in resolving engineering and operating issues. Â
UOP advisors may remain at a site for a few days to several months before moving to the next assignment. For each start-up, advisors may work with a number of UOP-licensed processes and a variety of individuals within and outside of UOP.
The experience gained from each assignment, and the subsequent interaction with other UOP employees, provide a solid background for assessing and solving problems encountered in each situation in various locations around the world.
As advisors gain experience, they have opportunities to advance to positions of increased accountability within the FOS organization. Â
Important:
MUST be able to commit to travelling international and domestically and reside onsite for long uninterrupted periods of time (Typical assignments are four to six months but one day to one year possible).
Begin your career with 12 months in the Early Career Program where you will be exposed to a variety of functions including Research and Process Development, Process Engineering and/ or Technical Service.
You will gain experience in one or more of UOP’s key refining and petrochemical technologies with a variety of activities that may include operating pilot plants, defining experiments, designing, troubleshooting and/ or servicing UOP process units, and performing other challenging assignments.
Following these 12 months of training Engineers will transfer to Field Operating Service (FOS). In FOS they will travel full time for 3-5 years on assignments to multiple locations around the world supporting UOP customers in operating plants as a process engineer and advisor.
AccountabilitiesCompletion of a 12-month training program designed to develop the skills needed to be FOS technical advisor. This includes:
Independent learning as well as structured classroom and hands-on training
Training focused on safety and UOP technology, processes and procedures by which UOP delivers technology to our customers.
On the job training and value-added work in 3-4 rotational work assignments in Operations, Engineering, Process Transformation, Technical Service, Regional Service, or Business groups
Soft skills training, including cultural awareness, conflict management, and communication courses
Transfer to Field Operating Service for a duration of at least 3-5 years. In Field Operating Service you will be on international and domestic assignments. Â
Some of the accountabilities are:
2-6 months of field training
Following all required safety procedures and adhering to FOS, UOP and Honeywell policies
Setting and meeting customer expectations
Collecting and effective analysis of unit operating data and laboratory results
Monitoring and advising on process operating conditions.
Advising customer personnel on the long-term routine activities for effective operation of a UOP process unit
Advising customers on scheduling, procedures, normal operating variables and response to emergency situations and unscheduled process changes, under the guidance of the Chief Technical Advisor if available
Completing a detailed checkout of new UOP process units prior to initial startup in order to assure that the completed unit conforms to UOP specifications as contained in the Schedule A design package Â
Providing field technical assistance and field support for development activities in commercial units
Providing feedback including suggested improvements on UOP process designs
Troubleshooting and recommending innovative solutions
Coordinating commissioning activities
Transferring technology to customers operating and engineering staff
Reviewing emergency and normal operating procedures with customer personnel
Advising customer personnel on the establishment and maintenance of the various process variables necessary to achieve safe and efficient operations.
Requirements
B.Eng in Chemical Engineering
Ability to work in a physically challenging environment Â
Ability to fulfill the FOS traveling role (on the road) for at least three (3) years after the completed 12 months training. Â
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
Ability to interact with customers on a global basis.
Ability and willingness to travel internationally and domestically and reside onsite for long uninterrupted periods of time. (Typical assignments are four to six months but durations of one day to one year or more are possible.)
