“In a cursed town, the annual harvest becomes a brutal battle for survival,” the plot synopsis reads, per Bloody Disgusting. “On Halloween 1963, Sawtooth Jack, a terrifying legend, rises from the cornfields, threatening the town’s children. Groups of boys unite to defeat the murderous scarecrow before midnight. Richie, a rebellious outcast, joins the run, motivated by his brother’s previous victory. As the hunt progresses, Richie makes a shocking discovery and faces a pivotal choice to break the relentless cycle.”
Dark Harvest stars Elizabeth Reaser (The Haunting of Hill House, The Handmaid’s Tale), Jeremy Davies (The Black Phone, Saving Private Ryan), Luke Kirby (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Halloween: Resurrection), Casey Likes (Spinning Gold), and Emyri Crutchfield (Fargo, Vacation). Based on the 2006 novel of the same name by Norman Partridge, the screenplay was written by Michael Gilio.
In addition to 2005’s Hard Candy and 2007’s 30 Days of Night, Slade is known for directing 2010’s The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and 2018’s Black Mirror: Bandersnatch. He’s also helmed episodes of Breaking Bad, Hannibal, American Gods, and more.
Having been pushed back from a previously announced September 2021 release date, Dark Harvest arrives on digital on October 13, 2023. Prior to that, the film will screen for one night only at Alamo Drafthouse Theaters on October 11, 2023.
