During Kevin Costner’s divorce hearing against estranged wife Christine Baumgartner, the Oscar-winning actor was asked to address his controversial Yellowstone exit.

What did Kevin Costner say about his Yellowstone exit?

According to Deadline, Costner confirmed that he will “probably go to court” against the producers of the hit Paramount Network series. He also revealed that he was in negotiations to return for two more seasons for $24 million, but it ultimately fell through because of “issues about creative.” He added, “I tried to break the logjam. They walked away.”

“Somewhere along the line, they wanted to change things,” Costner said regarding the scheduling conflict that ensued between him and the producers. “They wanted to do 5A and 5B; [it] affected Horizon. I was going to do my movie Horizon and leave that show, do my movie, then do B. A show I was only doing once a year, I was now doing twice.”

Following Costner’s shocking exit, Paramount Network announced Yellowstone will end its run after Season 5. The show is currently on mid-season break and slated to release its remaining six episodes later this year. Despite this, it has been confirmed that a Yellowstone sequel is in development.

“The series chronicles the Dutton family, led by John Dutton, who controls the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States,” reads the synopsis. “Amid shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds, and hard-earned respect — the ranch is in constant conflict with those it borders – an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park.”

Yellowstone is created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson. It stars Kevin Costner, Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Brecken Merrill, Jefferson White, Forrie Smith, Denim Richards, Ian Bohen, Finn Little, Ryan Bingham, Gil Birmingham, Jen Landon, and Kathryn Kelly.
