Shudder and Vertigo Releasing has announced the theatrical and VOD release date for Joe Lynch’s H.P. Lovecraft adaptation Suitable Flesh.
Suitable Flesh is already set to receive its UK premiere as the opening film of this year’s FrightFest today, and debuted at Tribeca back in June, but it was still waiting on a wide release.
It was confirmed that Suitable Flesh will hit theaters and VOD on October 27, 2023 with a streaming debut on Shudder set for January 2024.
The plot of Suitable Flesh is taken from the Lovecraft story The Thing on the Doorstep and sees Psychiatrist Elizabeth Derby become obsessed with helping a young patient suffering from extreme personality disorder. But it leads her into dark occult danger as she tries to escape a horrific fate.
The movie’s cast includes Heather Graham (Boogie Nights), Judah Lewis (The Babysitter), Bruce Davison (Insidious: The Last Key), Johnathon Schaech (The Night Clerk), and Barbara Crampton (You’re Next).
The film’s director Joe Lynch was previously responsible for L.A.R.P. horror comedy Knights of Badassdom starring Peter Dinklage and Summer Glau. He also made the violent satire Mayhem starring Steven Yeun and Samara Weaving.
