The status of Scream 7 remains up in the air. According to various reports from insiders, Jenna Ortega‘s return to the film is not yet guaranteed.
Late last week, noted insider MyTimeToShine took to Twitter to note that it was “unlikely” that Ortega would return for Scream 7. According to the insider, the main reason behind the news is that Ortega’s schedule is simply too busy. Due to her superstardom following the release of Netflix’s Wednesday, she may not have time.
But other reports from insiders — including Twitter users BigScreenLeaks and ViewerAnon — suggest that Ortega will actually be in the film. They claim production is planned to happen quickly in order to accommodate Ortega’s schedule.
Neither Paramount nor Ortega have commented on the film’s status.
Earlier this month, a report from Bloody Disgusting also noted that Radio Silence — a collective behind the fifth and sixth entries of Scream — would no longer direct Scream 7.
Instead, the directors are focused on their untitled Universal Monsters movie. A director whose name is reportedly in the running to helm the new movie is Christopher Landon, director of horror films like Happy Death Day, Freaky, and — most recently — We Have a Ghost.
