Bukayo Saka and Erling Haaland are among the six-man shortlist for the 2022/23 PFA Players’ Young Player of the Year Award.

The PFA Players’ Young Player of the Year is awarded to youngsters who were aged 21 or under at the beginning of the season and have gone on to star for their respective clubs.

Manchester City have dominated the award in recent seasons with Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Phil Foden (2x) winning four out of the last five awards, and Haaland may be about to continue that dominance for City following a remarkable season in front of goal.

In his first year in England, the Norwegian striker broke the single-season goalscoring record as he netted 36 in the Premier League as Man City claimed yet another Premier League title.

The goals propelled City past Arsenal in the title race during the 2022/23 campaign, and the Gunners also have two of their young star forwards nominated for the award. Gabriel Martinelli bagged a stunning 15 goals and five assists for Arsenal throughout the campaign, while England starlet Bukayo Saka managed 14 goals and 11 assists.

Along with the Arsenal duo, a Brighton and Hove Albion pair of young stars have also been nominated. Moises Caicedo, who recently left the club in a British record move to Chelsea, impressed with his work in the middle of the park, and Irish teenager Even Ferguson caught the attention of many by starring in attack for Brighton in the second half of the season.

Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey has got a nod too for his impressive showings in an Aston Villa team which achieved their highest league finish in over a decade.
