The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will hold its meeting on Wednesday, July 19.
The development of the meeting which is slated to hold at Transcrop Hilton Hotel, Abuja, was confirmed by the party’s National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore.
Meanwhile, before the NEC meeting on Wednesday, another session of the National Working Committee is scheduled for today at the NWC hall of the National Secretariat in Abuja.
Also, it was learned that on Tuesday, a meeting of the National Caucus would be presided over by President Bola Tinubu at Presidential Villa.
It is at the Caucus meeting that the agenda for Wednesday’s NEC meeting will be decided on and prepared.
Wednesday’s NEC would be the first to be attended by President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima since their inauguration in May.
The NEC, the second highest organ of the party, has the authority to make decisions in-between conventions of the ruling party.
Meanwhile, this platform earlier reported that following the resignation of both APC chieftains, the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting is likely to approve a timetable for a midterm elective convention to fill party vacancies.
Their resignations will be formally announced today (Monday) at the NWC meeting ahead of the Caucus and NEC meetings scheduled for Tuesday, July 18, and Wednesday, July 19, respectively.
Speaking with This Day, a source in the APC said four vacant positions in the National Working Committee (NWC) need to be filled, and it can only happen if an elective convention is conducted.
The source said, “You know we lost the National Welfare Secretary, Deputy National Publicity Secretary resigned, and if the chairman and the secretary are made to resign, the NEC will have to approve a midterm elective national convention of the party to fill the vacant positions.”
