Former Chelsea star, Joe Cole has urged the club’s leadership under co-owner, Todd Boehly to appoint Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti as the Blues’ permanent manager when Frank Lampard departs at the end of the season.
Boehly had sacked Graham Potter last Sunday and put Lampard to temporarily take charge of Chelsea until the end of the season.
Speaking on BT Sport, Cole said: “There is one man out there who is very active at the moment and that is Carlo Ancelotti.
“If I was the owner of a football club and there was one appointment you could make to steady a ship and win you trophies, he’s the first name.”
He added, “I think it is very difficult for Jose [Mourinho] to come back to Chelsea at some point because he is gone to Tottenham because he is gone to Manchester United.
“There is a connection maybe with the fans that was not what it once was.”
