The Boys star Antony Starr took to social media to share some photos of himself on the set of the hit Amazon series covered in blood.
In a series of photos on Instagram, Starr shared shots of himself covered in fake blood. On the official The Boys Twitter account, the team behind the series joked that it was just “another day at Vought Tower.”
The photos come right as production on Season 4 of The Boys seems to wind down. Actor Simon Pegg recently celebrated finishing up his role on the season, and so did Starr, who took to Twitter earlier this week to reveal that he had wrapped production on the season as Homelander.
The Boys is an irreverent take on what happens when superheroes — who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and as revered as gods — abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about the supergroup known as “The Seven.” The show retains most of the comics’ boundary-pushing violence and sexuality while exploring the dark side of superhero celebrity and fame.
The Amazon Studios series stars Jack Quaid, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, and Karl Urban, along with Erin Moriarty, Antony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Nathan Mitchell, Claudia Doumit, and Colby Minifie.
Season 3 featured the addition of Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles as the infamous Soldier Boy, Katia Winter as Little Nina, Miles Gaston Villanueva (Law & Order True Crime) as Supersonic, Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints) as Gunpowder, Nick Wechsler (Revenge) as Blue Hawk, and Laurie Holden (The Walking Dead) as Crimson Countess.
The series, based on the comic book series created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, is created by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen — who are also responsible for AMC’s Preacher — and Supernatural creator Eric Kripke. Seasons 1 to 3 are available for streaming on Prime Video.
