Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka has been named Premier League EA Sports Player of the Month for March.

The announcement was made on Friday.

Saka’s contribution to the success of the Gunners so far this season cannot be overemphasised, as he currently has 22 goal contributions in 28 league appearances.

The England star, who is in premium form, started the month with a goal and assist in Arsenal’s 4-0 win against Everton, and ended it with three goal involvements in Sunday’s win over Crystal Palace, which saw him get on the scoresheet twice to become the first player to reach double figures for goals and assists in the division this term.

Celebrating Saka, the club on its website wrote, “It is our forward’s first divisional success of his career, as he becomes the 22nd different player to win the prize in our colours – the most of any other club in the league’s history.”

Saka’s scintillating form saw him come out on top of the voting, ahead of teammate Leandro Trossard, who laid on five assists during the month, as well as Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Alexis Mac Allister and Tyrone Mings of Aston Villa.

It is the second time this season the prize has been handed to an Arsenal player, with captain Martin Odegaard receiving the November/December award.

Former Arsenal captain Tony Adams recently described Saka as the best player in world football apart from World Cup winner Lionel Messi.

The 21-year-old also netted a glorious goal from outside the box against Ukraine on Sunday, helping the Three Lions remain at the top of their Euro 2024 qualifying group with a 2-0 victory,

He is also set to become the highest paid player in Arsenal and the ninth in the EPL when he signs his new contract with the club.

While his present contract is due to expire in the summer of 2024, it is hopeful the winger will extend his contract with the Gunners to 2028.

With the deal, he is expected to earn four times his current salary and become the Gunners’ highest-paid player.

He currently earns a weekly wage of £70,000 which could become a whooping £300,000-per-week, once the ew contract is signed.
