A new Joker: Folie à Deux video from the set of the upcoming sequel features Lady Gaga singing, giving fans a preview of the potential musical aspect said to be heavily featured in the sequel.
The video doesn’t have Gaga in it, but is instead filmed from the outside of a large tent. Inside, you can hear Gaga singing what sounds like “We’re a Couple of Swells,” a comedy song performed by Judy Garland and Fred Astaire in the 1948 film Easter Parade. Although the song is a duet, it’s unclear if Joaquin Phoenix will be singing along with his partner in the film.
The song itself tells the story of two poor people imagining what their life would be like if they were rich, or a “swell,” which would lend itself nicely to the duo of Joker and Harley Quinn.
So far, not too much is known about the upcoming film, although recent set photos have given fans their first real look at Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, as well as Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker taking part in an elaborate chase scene, similar to the one that was featured in the first film.
Joker: Folie à Deux is once again being directed by Todd Phillips. The film will feature the return of Joaquin Phoenix as he reprises his Oscar-winning role as the titular DC villain. He will be joined by Grammy-winning superstar Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. The sequel will also feature the return of Zazie Beetz’s Sophie, along with franchise newcomers Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey.
