Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly briefly spoke with reporters after Saturday’s much-needed 1-0 victory at home to Leeds United.
The Blues have endured a rather miserable debut season with Boehly and Clearlake at the helm, with Graham Potter’s men languishing in 10th in the Premier League table and eliminated from both domestic cup competitions. They also trail Borussia Dortmund 1-0 in the last 16 of the Champions League.
A header from Wesley Fofana ensured Chelsea beat Leeds and give them some momentum heading into Tuesday’s second leg against Dortmund.
Pressure has mounted on Potter having replaced fan favourite Thomas Tuchel back in September, with Chelsea claiming just their second win in all competitions in 2022 on Saturday.
In his post-match press conference, Potter recognised that the players’ good faith won’t serve him well unless they turn that sentiment into wins.
Around an hour after the match at Stamford Bridge finished, Boehly wandered across the touchline where a group of journalists had gathered, asking him if he enjoyed Saturday’s win.
Smiling and shrugging his shoulders, Boehly calmly replied: “It’s a result.”
Chelsea would have dropped into the bottom half of the Premier League table had they failed to win as 11th-placed Aston Villa beat Crystal Palace on Saturday.
They are now one point behind ninth-placed Brentford but have played two games more than the Bees.
