CarlSmith Bakery is a bakery in Obafemi, Owode owned by husband and wife duo, Bakare Smith and Bakare Caroline. We will specialize in bread, for a start, and we are hoping to move into pastries and custom-made cakes and cupcakes in the future. CarlSmith Bakery is located in a highly-trafficked, convenient, and busy retail strip centre of Owode and is easily accessible to all residents of the community.

CarlSmith Bakery prides itself on exceptional customer service and attention to detail in all the pastries we will serve. We don’t just want to make a name for ourselves in the Owode community but to be able to make delicious custom-made-to-order bread and pastries for all types of events and gatherings, throughout the country. We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Baker

Location: Obafemi Owode, OgunEmployment Type: Contract

Job Description

We are looking for a Baker to prepare different types of bread. Baker’s responsibilities include opening the bakery early in the morning, mixing dough, preparing fillings and glazing pastries.
To be successful in this role, you should have work experience as a Baker and be able to use creative techniques in making bread and managing the work area.
Ultimately, you will make sure we offer fresh and delicious goods to our customers on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

Open the bakery early in the morning
Clean kitchen equipment and tools before use
Recommend recipes to renew our menu and attract more customers (e.g. gluten-free or vegan desserts)
Track food supplies and place orders, as needed
Weigh the flour and other ingredients to prepare the dough
Bake different bread types, like croissants, baguettes, etc
Adjust oven temperatures to ensure proper baking

Requirements and Skills

Candidates should possess an SSCE / GCE / NECO qualification with 2 – 30 years work experience.
Experience as a Baker, Pastry Chefor similar role
Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders and dough sheeters
Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude
Flexibility to work in shifts
Certification from a culinary school is a plus
Ability to use both fabricated and industrial oven machines.
Understanding of food safety practices
Excellent time-management skills
Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment

SalaryN40,000 – N60,000 / month.
