Chelsea have announced that young striker David Datro Fofana will join the club once the January transfer window officially opens.
90min reported earlier in December that the Blues led several other Premier League sides in the race to sign the Ivorian from Norwegian side Molde.
And the west London club confirmed on Wednesday that an agreement has been reached to bring Fofana to Stamford Bridge.
A club statement read: “Chelsea FC has reached a pre-agreement with Molde FK for the transfer of David Datro Fofana.
“The 20-year-old striker will join the Blues on 1 January 2023. We look forward to welcoming David to the club!”
Fofana scored 15 times for Molde in 2022 as they romped their way to the Eliteserien title.
The likes of Brighton, Brentford and Leicester had been alerted to his availability, with the Seagulls particularly keeping a close eye on him.
Recruitment analyst Kyle Macauley, who made the move from Brighton to Chelsea with Graham Potter, led the Blues’ pursuit for Fofana and they have now got their man.
