TOPIC: Faster Than Your Enemies [Open Heaven for Teens 19 October 2022]

MEMORISE: Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Peter 5:8

READ: 1 Peter 5:8-9

  1. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
  2. Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Thessalonians 2:1-17, Jeremiah 1-2

MESSAGE:

Our enemy, the devil, is one of the most active beings ever. The Bible says:
“And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.” (Job 1:7)

The devil specializes in seeking his next prey every time he goes around; this is why you must be faster than he. He has agents everywhere who monitor the children of God and try to manipulate or tempt them into committing sin. However, the onus is on you to be vigilant and pray hard to outsmart the enemy.

By the grace of God, when I tell people to pray for an hour, I must have prayed for longer because the closer you are in your relationship with God, the more the enemy tries to attack you. Now is the time to train yourself to pray fervently so that you will be able to withstand the wiles and schemes of the enemy. May the Lord help you.

PRAYER POINT

Father, please don’t ever let me be a prey to the enemy.

HYMN: STAND UP, STAND UP FOR JESUS

  1. Stand up! stand up for Jesus
    Ye soldiers of the cross!
    Lift high His royal banner;
    It must not suffer loss.
    From vict’ry unto vict’ry
    His army shall He lead,
    Till every foe is vanquished,
    And Christ is Lord indeed.
  2. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    the trumpet call obey;
    Forth to the mighty conflict,
    In this His glorious day;
    Ye that are men now serve Him
    against unnumbered foes;
    let courage rise with danger,
    and strength to strength oppose.
  3. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    stand in his strength alone;
    The arm of flesh will fail you,
    Ye dare not trust your own:
    put on the gospel armour,
    And watching unto prayer;
    where duty calls, or danger,
    be never wanting there.
  4. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    The strife will not be long;
    this day the noise of battle,
    the next the victor’s song:
    to him that overcometh
    A crown of life shall be;
    He with the King of glory
    shall reign eternally.
