MESSAGE:
In sporting competitions, there are always prizes to be won in different categories. There is bronze for third place, silver for second place and gold for first place. I always go for gold. Nothing can be compared to gold; even when it is thrown into fire, it shines brighter, so why shouldn’t anyone go for gold?
To go for gold means to strive for excellence. It means to be the best. In my younger years before God arrested me, I wanted to be the youngest Vice Chancellor in Africa. If I had kept at that dream, I would have achieved it. By the grace of God, Im constantly striving for excellence.
God is a God of excellence because everything He made at creation was perfect. Therefore, as His child, you have an advantage over others who are not, so, you should be excellent in all that you do. Never be mediocre. When you are given any task, think of better ways to do it. Read about great people and learn from them. You have all that it takes to be the very best.
KEY POINT
Go for gold, never settle for less.
HYMN: I’m Pressing On The Upward Way
CHORUS
Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith on heaven’s table-land;
Where love and joy and light abound,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
