TOPIC: Is It Worth It? [Open Heaven for Teens 9 October 2022]
MEMORISE: For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Mark 8:36
READ: 1 Timothy 6:6-12
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Colossians 1:1-29, Isaiah 41-42
MESSAGE:
We live in a world filled with unhealthy rivalry and competition for what’s not necessary and it is so easy to get caught in this web. No wonder Romans 12:2 says we should constantly renew our minds so that we can stay on the right path.
I know that you, as a teenager, also face your fair share of temptations but I want you to constantly ask yourself when faced with temptation: is it worth it? Is your eternity worth losing? When you see girls like you changing expensive clothes like the weather, using expensive phones not bought for them by their parents or relatives, eating out and partying, before you envy or wish to join them, ask yourself: is this what life is all about? As a boy, when you see other boys spending money gotten through cybercrime, buying and driving flashy cars, having girlfriends and clubbing, before you wish you were like them, ask yourself: is eternity worth losing?
Hell is real my child. The consequences of bad actions – sicknesses, diseases, untimely death are also very real. Don’t envy sinners and their ways; face your lane, stay with Jesus.
KEY POINT:
Nothing is worth losing eternity with Jesus in Heaven over.
HYMN: When The Trumpet Of The Lord Shall Sound
1 When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound
and time shall be no more,
And the morning breaks,
eternal, bright and fair;
When the saved of earth shall gather
over on the other shore,
And the roll is called up yonder,
I’ll be there.
CHORUS
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
I’ll be there.
2 On that bright and cloudless morning,
when the dead in Christ shall rise,
And the glory of his resurrection share;
When his chosen ones shall gather to
their home beyond the skies,
And the roll is called up yonder,
I’ll be there.
3 Let us labour for the Master from
the dawn till setting sun;
Let us talk of all his wondrous
love and care.
Then, when all of life is over,
and our work on earth is done,
And the roll is called up yonder,
I’ll be there.
