Terrorism: Nnamdi Kanu withdraws lawsuit against Chief Judge of Federal High Court

A lawsuit filed by detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, against the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court on his secret trial over terrorism charges, has been struck out by Justice Inyang Ekwo of a Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday October 7.

Kanu dragged Chief Judge, Justice John Tsoho to court following the adoption of a Practice Direction that allowed the trial of terrorism-related charges to be done on camera.

The IPOB leader had said that the secret trial policy effected shortly after the Federal Government instituted 15 treasonable felony charges against him constituted an infringement of his fundamental rights to a fair trial.

Commenting on the lawsuit before the trial began on Friday, Kanu through his lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, announced that he was no longer interested in continuing with the suit.

Ejiofor who subsequently applied that the matter be struck out, said the decision was taken after they discovered that the secret trial of terrorism charges policy adopted was not targeted at his client.
