TOPIC: Friendship II [Open Heaven for Teens 5 October 2022]
MEMORISE: Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. 1 Corinthians 15:33
READ: 2 Corinthians 6:14-15
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Philippians 1:1-30, Isaiah 31-33
MESSAGE:
After discovering your personality traits or temperament, you should then watch out for the kind of friend that would suit your person. The Bible says in Amos 3:3 that two people cannot walk together unless they agree. The word agree in that Bible passage means understanding. In other words, do you gel with each other? Do you flow easily with the person? Can you express yourself easily when in the company of the fellow?
You also need to consider the fellow’s spiritual state and doctrines. For instance, I do not expect you to be friends with an unbeliever or a Christian who only goes to Church but does not live a godly life. Remember, the Bible says you should not be unequally yoked together with an unbeliever.
My child, you need to understand that one of the mistakes most young people make is taking things like friendship for granted or with levity. Friendship is so important that not everyone can be your friend because it can make or mar you.
KEY POINT:
Choose your friends wisely and prayerfully.
HYMN: I Need Thee Every Hour
CHORUS
I need Thee, oh, I need Thee;
Ev’ry hour I need Thee;
Oh, bless me now, my Saviour,
I come to Thee.
