President Muhammadu Buhari has poured encomiums on a foremost Nigerian monarch and paramount ruler of Ngwa land in Abia State, Eze Bernard Enweremadu.
This followed the internment of the revered traditional ruler at his Ahiaba Okpuala -Ngwaukwu country home in Isialangwa North local government area of the state, on Saturday.
DAILY POST recalls that the late Eze Bernard Enweremadu died on January 17, at the age of 77.
He became a traditional ruler at the age of 33 and ran a good race as well as left legacies.
However, extolling the legacies of the deceased, President Buhari described him as a man of peace and a custodian of culture.
He noted that Eze Enweremadu served the state and nation in many capacities, leaving a legacy of fairness and charity.
President Buhari, who was represented by the Honorable Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr Uche Sampson Ogah, also maintained that the late royal father exhibited charisma and remained faithful to the calling of his people till death.
He condoled the family of the deceased, his community, state and nation on the irreparable loss of the monarch.
In his tributes, the Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, pointed out that Eze Enweremadu is not dead, noting that great men do not die.
Governor Ikpeazu assured that the people of Abia will not allow the name of Eze Enweremadu to die and asserted that the late royal father, carried himself with charisma, dignity and lived an upright and truthful life.
Also eulogizing the sterling virtues of the deceased monarch in their separate speeches, the ex-Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial zone, Senator Theodore Orji, pointed out that the late sage brought honour and respect to the traditional institution and also described late Eze Enweremadu as a pride to the Ukwa/ Ngwa and Abia people as a whole.
The Senator representing Abia South Senatorial Zone, Senator Enyinnanya Abaribe described the late Eze Enweremadu as an embodiment of the Ngwa tradition, adding that his name will continue to live on.
In his tribute, the Chairman, Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Ndubisi Nwabeke described the late Eze Enweremadu as a great Traditional Ruler par excellence whom the Ngwa nation held in high esteem, adding the Ngwa nation has lost a rare gem.
Appreciating the dignitaries who honoured the revered Abia paramount traditional ruler, the first son of the deceased and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rt Prince Christopher Enweremadu, thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, members of the National and State House of Assembly, members of the State Executive Council, friends and well-wishers for coming to join the family in bidding the foremost monarch farewell, praying God to bless them abundantly.
Eze Bernard Onyenguso Enweremadu is survived by 14 wives and 77 children.
