The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) on Tuesday said that two million Northerners have been displaced by insurgents.
In a statement in Kaduna on Tuesday, the CNG Deputy Coordinator North West, Comrade Sani Sa’eed, said that bandits’ attack on innocent people have increased despite deployment of security forces to the affected communities and local government areas of the state.
According to him, the situation has gone beyond the limit of any single security organization to include everyone involved in defining a nation’s strategic priority.
The group called on the government to mount and sustain special operations on Zaria to Kaduna Highway, Kaduna to Abuja, Kaduna to Birnin Gwari, Funtua to Zamfara, Funtua to Katsina and Zamfara State.
It also called for the total dismantling of terrorists’ enclaves, calling for elimination or arrest of the murderous elements.
The statement further added that, “presently, Nigeria is like a silk gown, if you fold one part, the other part will unfold itself as bandits, criminals keep increasing across the country.”
He said every Nigerian citizen has a role to play in tackling security challenges facing the country, especially Northern Nigerians because of the activities of dare devils killing and kidnapping people, describing the North as a sinking ship that is about to capsize.
