Former senator, Effiong Dickson Bob has emerged the political leader, Uyo Senatorial district of Akwa Ibom State.
The resolution was taken at the end of an enlarged stakeholders meeting of the Federal Constituency which was convened by the member representing Etinan/ Nsit Ibom/ Nsit Ubium Federal Constituency, Mr Onofiok Luke.
The stakeholders said the need to have a political leader in the constituency became neccessary following the demise of Late Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga who was the leader until his death.
In a reaction, Senator Bob thanked the people for the confidence reposed on him and for finding him worthy for the position. He promised not to let them down and a total support for the completion agenda of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s led government.
Describing the meeting as first of its kind in the Federal Constituency, Bob commended Mr Luke for his ability to bring the three Local Government Areas to one place to fete them during this yuletide season adding that at the appropriate time the Federal Constituency will speak in one voice.
He charged members of the constituency to take full advantage of the e-registration of the PDP and the continuous voter registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission to get involved in the election of credible leaders for the next dispensation.
Luke also reaffirmed his support for the completion agenda of governor Udom Emmanuel and moved a motion for the Federal Constituency to adopt his position.
He said the government of Mr Emmanuel has been gracious to the Federal Constituency in projects executed and appointment of sons and daughters into positions of authority.
He lauded the government for the rehabilitation of Etinan General Hospital, construction of Uyo- Etinan road and other roads in the Federal Constituency.
Meanwhile Stakeholders in the Constituency who spoke, lauded Luke for his good representation.
The meeting had in attendance serving members of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly from the Federal Constituency, Mr Aniefiok Dennis, Mr Ifiok Udoh and Mr Otobong Bob, Chairmen of the councils, Mr Eric Akpan, Arc. Iniobong Orok, Party bigwigs Obong Paul Ekpo, Prof Nseabasi Akpan, Isantim Kenneth, former Speaker Anietie Etuk, Chapter Chairmen from the three Local Government Areas, ward executives and others.
