The Chief Press Secretary to the Osun State Governor, Ismail Omipidan has revealed that Governor Adegboyega Oyetola is not losing sleep over the purported plots to unseat him by a faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Omipidan who made this known while featuring on Arise TV on Thursday also said the governor was more concerned with delivering on his promise to the people during his electioneering campaign.
While maintaining that Governor Oyetola has so far done well by keeping his promises, he added that it has become a feat because on the assumption of office as governor he has been able to restore the confidence of the people.
Omipidan opined that “Most of what the people claim were responsible for why they almost did not want the party to continue governing the state in 2018 had been reviewed by the current governor. You talked about the issue of single uniforms which was a very serious campaign issue in 2018, that had been done away with. Reclassification of school, that has been done away with. Modulated salaries which some would refer to as half salary, it has become a thing of the past.”
The aide to the Osun Governor also disclosed that the Osun APC is intact as the state chairman, Adegboyega Famodun is committed to making sure it remains united to achieve victory in the 2022 Osun gubernatorial election.
“At any rate, most of the leaders of the party, including Chief Bisi Akande, the elder council, and all the former deputy governors in the state are together in the party.”
Reacting to Rauf Aregbesola, the Interior Minister supporting the gubernatorial ambition of Oyetola, Omipidan explained that the minister has not in any fora indicated that he is not going to the incumbent governor.
DAILY POST recalls that on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, the former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuff, former Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Najeem Salam and former Secretary to the State Government, Moshood Adeoti in a special meeting of The Osun Progressives (TOP) declared that the candidature of Adegboyega Oyetola as APC gubernatorial candidate will be bad for the party.
They also claimed they would canvas and throw their weight behind the party candidate who must come from the Osun West Senatorial District.
The Osun Progressives (TOP) which has enjoyed the support of Rauf Aregbesola, the Interior Minister has had a running battle with the Osun State governor and his IleriOluwa group.
The difference of opinion has led to a parallel ward, local government and state congresses, with the emergence of parallel APC state executives led by Rasaq Salinsile.
