The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Funminiyi Afuye has felicitated with Ekiti people on the celebration of Christmas.
Afuye who described Christmas as a special period remembering the birth of Jesus Christ noted that “it is an event which is celebrated all over the world.”
The Speaker enjoined Christians in the State to seize the opportunity to pray for Ekiti and the entire nation, saying there is “no other time to pray for our dear state than now when we are in the process of transition of power.”
The Speaker commended the governor of the State, Dr Kayode Fayemi for putting smiles on the faces of Ekiti people by paying the gratuities of retirees and workers’ salaries before Christmas.
“It’s commendable that Governor Kayode Fayemi has kept all the promises he gave to the people” he said.
“To whom much is given, much is also expected. Therefore, I enjoin workers in the State to cooperate with the government in achieving the best for our state,” the Speaker said.
The Speaker wished the people a merry Christmas.
