The Federal Government says it has released the sum of over N621b for the construction of 21 strategic roads across the country in its efforts to ease fuel transportation challenges to the Northern part of the country.
Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Works, Dr. Babangida Hussaini disclosed this while featuring in a Freedom Radio Program titled “Yau Da Gobe” monitored by DAILY POST.
He said the Federal Government, through the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has released the sum of over N621billion to the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing for the construction of 21 strategic roads across the country.
He explained that that the road construction when completed will ease transportation challenges of conveying petroleum products from the southern part to the Northern part of the country.
“Already contractors have been mobilized to these various construction sites after receiving their mobilization payment from the ministry.
“The bad condition of the roads in some part of the southern States, especially the oil producing states has been resulting in oil tankers facing difficulties in conveying petroleum products to the North.
“These roads include Gombe-Biu, Gombe-Jimeta, Kaduna-Panbeguwa, Jos-Zaria-Funtua, Bida-Minna, Bida-Zangeru-Kagara, Offa-Lagos, Ikorodu-Badagry-Lagos and Ikom roads among others,” he said.
He noted that the APC-led administration under President Muhammad Buhari was committed to executing more developmental projects across the six-geo political zones of the country, irrespective of political, religious affiliations.
