The Ogun State House of Assembly has passed the 2022 appropriation bill as presented by Governor Dapo Abiodun barely a month ago.
DAILY POST recalls that Gov Abiodun had on November 30 presented the 2022 appropriation bill of N350.74 billion to the Assembly.
On Wednesday, the lawmakers, at a session presided over by the Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, passed N350,735 billion, while adjusting some recurrent and or capital estimates of about 182 agencies.
The bill was passed after the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Olakunle Sobunkanla, presented his report.
After moving the motion for the adoption of the report, it was seconded by his Vice, Ganiyu Oyedeji and supported by the whole House through a voice vote.
The bill was thereafter read and adopted clause-by-clause by the Committee of the House.
Speaking, Oluomo said the assembly had carried out slight adjustments in the recurrent and capital expenditures of some MDAs, leading to the reduction in the total recurrent expenditure from the initial N172.997bn to N153.180bn resulting in N19.816bn decrease.
Oluomo added that capital expenditure was increased from N177.737bn to N197.554bn, giving an increment of N19.816bn.
The motion for the third reading of the bill was moved by the Majority Leader, Yusuf Sheriff, seconded by Oludaisi Elemide and supported by the Whole House, while the Clerk who is also head of legislative service, Mr. āDeji Adeyemo did the third reading of the bill before the members.
Meanwhile, the Speaker has directed that the clean copy of the bill be transmitted to the governor for his assent.
