A group of Islamic scholars in Zamfara State have solicited special and frequent prayers for divine intervention, saying only Almighty Allah can bring sustainable peace and stability to Zamfara State and the country as a whole.

The Islamic scholars disclosed this to DAILY POST during an exclusive interview after their combined prayer in a Mosque in Gusau, the state capital.

Speaking, the State Commissioner, Religious Affairs, Dr Muhammad Tukur Sani Jangebe described 2021 as a year full of tragedies that had come to suck innocent blood, stressing that Nigerians need total repentance and prayer of protection from witnessing such calamities again.

“We can =not continue to be running away from our legal homes because of bandits who have sold their consciousness to Satan,” he said

The commissioner also urged the Muslim ummah to surrender and submit themselves to the will of God and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad to avoid further serious calamities.

On his part, the emir of Gusau, Ibrahim Bello who spoke through one of his aides, the Chiroma Gusau, Mainasara Bello called on both Muslims and Christians to always imbibe the culture of togetherness and religious tolerance in all their legal endeavours.

“The truth remains that both Muslims and Christians in Nigeria cannot live without each other. We depend on each other” he said.

Another religious leader, Sheikh Umar Kanoma who contributed to the discussion also called for prayers to end banditry activities and other forms of criminalities across the country.

He also urged Muslims to always fear Allah in their day to day activities, redouble their Ibadat and always ask for forgiveness from the Almighty Allah.

Another contributor was the chairperson Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN) women wing Zamfara State, Lami Mangze who advocated religious tolerance for peace and harmony to reign, saying that living in peace with everyone and forgiving each other would assist in creating peace and harmony.

The Bishop, Christ Cathedral, Anglican communion Church, John Danbita also called on all Christians to shun any negativity for peace and stability in Zamfara State and the nation at large.

“Going to Church alone does not make anybody a Christian but living a Christ-like life, emulate the examples of the founder of Christianity” he added.

DAILY POST can authoritatively state that Zamfara State remains one of the states being bedeviled by banditry activities for over twelve years which has resulted in political and socio-economic instabilities.
