READ: John 6:30-35

  1. They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?
  2. Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
  3. Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
  4. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
  5. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
  6. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Romans 6:1-23, Psalms 75-77

MESSAGE:

In the Old Testament, God sent down ‘manna’ which was the miraculous bread, to satisfy the Israelites hunger as they travelled through the desert. They were to pick what would be just enough for each day because if they kept any for the next, it would spoil. However, when Jesus came to declare Himself as the bread of life, His emphasis showed the need to trust Him to satisfy our physical body, soul and spirit. He told the crowd that He was even more important to them than their daily meals.

As physical food is basic to life, so also is the spiritual food. Jesus is the spiritual bread that gives us everlasting life through our relationship with God. Today, He is inviting you into a relationship that will ensure your spiritual growth. As you dig deep into the word of God, He will satisfy your hunger by revealing deep things of the Lord to you. The more you feed on that Bread of Life, the more you grow and become healthy spiritually; when you’re healthy, you will be more productive in all aspects of your life.

KEY POINT:

Nothing can ever satisfy a human being like Jesus – not even Cannabis, alcohol and the likes; only Jesus can.

HYMN: Pass Me Not A Gentle Saviour

  1. Pass me not, O gentle Saviour,
    Hear my humble cry,
    While on others Thou art calling,
    Do not pass me by.

CHORUS
Saviour, Saviour,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

  1. Let me at Thy throne of mercy
    Find a sweet relief;
    Kneeling there in deep contrition,
    Help my unbelief.
  2. Trusting only in Thy merit,
    Would I seek Thy face;
    Heal my wounded, broken spirit,
    Save me by Thy grace.
  3. Thou the Spring of all my comfort,
    More than life to me,
    Whom have I on earth beside Thee?
    Whom in heaven but Thee?
